Formado em Agronomia em 1950, pela Universidade Rural do Estado de Minas Gerais (Uremg), Flamarion retorna à instituição em 1962, onde exerce o cargo de reitor. Posteriormente ocupou outros cargos, como chefe do Departamento de Produção Vegetal da Secretaria da Agricultura, em 1969.
